Ellie- A night in the studio

Been a while since my last blog.  Recently carried out a studio shoot with Ellie, who you will see has bright blue hair….Again she was a very nice model to work with, very easy going and not put off by the strange requests that I had, involving screaming her head off as loud as  she could. Needless to say that that image did not work so it will not be appearing on these pages any-time soon, maybe for another day with another model.

We used a variety of locations in the studio from a bright wall in the entrance to a few backdrops, and even managed to get a chair into the action. I would mention that it must be an age related issue that when I asked Ellie to pose as ‘Christine Keeler’ on the chair I was met with blank expression, however when this was explained as to the pose she went for it, slightly adapted…..

Still a very good night was had and between us we managed to get some good images, certainly somebody I will like to work with again in the future.Ellie2

Equipment used on the night was a Canon EOS60D with a 50mm f1.8 lens. Lighting was by using the modelling light, with a reflector where required.

Immogen

Another studio shoot with a new model that I had not worked with before.

Immogen7

So let me introduce you to Immogen..who’s normally seen flying the skies from Birmingham airport as she, for her day job, works for a local airline as an air stewardess.

So for the evening I used the main studio, with just one light and kept the modelling light on, rather than use the flash head.

Attached to the studio there is a small cafe, as we were working late this was closed and empty, so instead of letting it lie unused we tried a few shots up there, carefully carrying the light up from the studio.

A good night was had and I look forward to working with Immogen again the future.

Camera used for the night was my Canon EOS60D with my faithful 50mm f1.8 lens, might be a cheap lens, bit produces some great images.

More with Tanya

Have been busy lately so still reviewing and editing images from the night with Tanya. Found some spare time to carry on and have managed to pick out some more that I like.

All where taken on a Canon EOS60D with a Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. I know that this is cheap lens, but  it is perfect for using in the studio and with constant lighting. You just need to use your feet to move and get the best from the equipment and the model.

I still have some more to review and edit , just need to find the time. It is funny that I can more time reviewing and editing the images than it takes to create them in the first instance.

Oh well, here is to bad nights on the TV and bead weather outside………

A night with Tanya

Last week I did a photo shoot with a local model, Tanya. I had not worked with her before, but hopefully will  in the near future. I have included a few images form teh night, with Tanya looking stunning in a faux fur coat, and yes, she had clothes on underneathIMG_2796-EditIMG_2817-EditIMG_2803-Edit

Interesting Challenge

So at the last camera club meeting we were challenged to come up with a AV project lasting between 1:30 – 3:00 minutes, to include a soundtrack if required.

All to be complete for the end of April 2015 with a grand viewing to be held at a venue sometime in May 2015.

Now to get the thinking cap on, a few ideas kicking around so time to start planning so which may be the best option.

Before this was announced we had a talk by local photographer Richard Battye of his new project based on the form of the human body, some very unusual images and some striking poses.

Check out his work at http://www.riverstudio.co.uk   well woth a look.

LRPS Update

So, the date is booked for me to submit my work to see if it is good enough to earn a LRPS Distinction from the the Royal Photographic Society.

Date is the 22nd March during the Photography Show at the NEC, Birmingham.

Sent of the images to the printers, now just waiting for them to comeback and then review and change and sort the changing plan and then review till i get my final ten.

Getting some thoughts now that the selection will not be good enough but at least i have got time to re-shoot / re-work any that i do not think that are strong enough.

Not too stressed at the moment, but no doubt when the prints turn up and then the day starts to get closer the jangle of the nerves will start to increase…….

Last images from the Dance shoot

OK, here are the last few images form the dance themed studio shoot. The guy that did these worked very hard for the group and at time he seemed like he was going to explode after been asked to repeat the same moves. Still he was a true professional and carried on with a smile, just above a grimace…

Dance Evening – More Images

Got round to sorting out some more images from the recent dance evening. These are of Natalie who did a freestyle routine. She got on with, and did not complain too much about the dirty and cold floor (look at the feet).

These are both of Emilie Rebecca Walt.

I have some to post, hopefully will get around to these over the weekend.

Dance Evening

Took part in a dance evening in the studio at Birmingham Open Media last night, first time at one of these events so a bit different from the normal studio sessions.

Three great dances for the evening, Rachel, Nathan and Emily, thanks to them as they made it so easy to get some great images, and lots of styles ranging from freestyle thru to ballet. All i have to do now is to sort them, edit them and post the my favourites on-line, so watch this space, it will take me a few days but they are on their way.
